Bought a subsoiler to go with the pipe layer. Subsoiler will not work with my Messey 165 due to no down pressure on the 3 point. The product is well made and no completes with the quality of the subsoiler.

This is the replacement for one that did not hold up well. This one works as expected. The best thing is that Titan stood behind their product and made it right

Purchased the pair so I could bury electrical wire and a 1" water hose. Was using a 2020 JD 1025R for the job. Issues found. Using the subsoiler alone, I could only get to a depth of approximately 10-12 inches at most. When I tried using the pipelayer attachment, it would skirt upon the ground so that if I were trying to bury pipe it would barely make it below the surface. The JD does not have a 3-point with down force, it relies on the weight and the equipment to determine how deep it will go. I added about 200 pounds to the subsoiler and tried again. With the pipelayer in virgin soil, I could still not get deep enough to bury the water pipe. I ended up having to subsoil my line first and then add the pipelayer and 200 pounds of weight so I was eventually able to get the pipe about 5-7" below the surface. Few things; 1) A longer shaft is needed so that it will pull itself in to the depth you are trying to achieve. With this short shaft, it cannot pull itself in deep enough. 2) Using a tractor with downforce 3 point would be recommended. 3) If you don't have 3-point down force, you need to figure out a way to add at least a couple hundred pounds to this thing if you have anything more compact than sandy soil. Did not get the wire buried yet, but after struggling with the water pipe, may simply use the subsoiler by itself and hand bury the wire next year. Would like to see this come with a shank about 2x as long as what you get as well as weight bracket across the entire thing.
