“I love the colour of this dress, and how it slimmed me. It was also the perfect dress to compliment my daughters' dresses for a wedding. Unfortunately, the lace was tearing from where it was sewn on the ties the very first time I pulled the ties to ties them. I didn't pull hard, but the way that the lace is, it just isn't suited to be sewn on a tie (holes are too big, the lace is too thin). It would've worked if the lace had some sort of tulle backing to reinforce it. BECAUSE the dress is literally perfect in colour and style for what I wanted, I decided to keep it and have a seamstress reattach the lace to the ties while I took it in to get hemmed. I will be reinforcing the lace by coating the back side with a No Fray sewing glue. If I had more time before the wedding, I would have dyed tulle, and had it sewn on the backside of the lace to reinforce
I'm hoping that my method works well enough for the day, or at least for photos. I did dye my Night To Remember dress a similar shade of blue, and am also bringing it in case the lace doesn't hold.”
