“I hoped to love this bathing suit, as I bought it to replace an earlier version of it that I wear frequently and which is always complimented. Unfortunately I found the size chart to be inaccurate - I’m on the smaller side of Medium and the Large suit was too small for me. I’m frustrated that tomboyx would not cover return shipping given that this fit issue was due to their size chart.
I would have tried a larger size, but the fabric now includes polyester (I believe the earlier version was nylon), which makes it incredibly itchy for me to wear. I’m bummed at the inconsistency of these products and I will sadly hesitate to make another purchase.”
“I got this suit for swimming laps in an indoor chlorinated pool. To prevent chlorine damage, I shower prior to getting into the pool and rinse it after the swim, and when I get home I soak it ~30 minutes in cold water with a little bit of dish soap and a few tablespoons of baking soda, then rinse in cool water.
I have not worn it enough times (5-10 swims) to judge how well it stands up to chlorination.
Pros:
I love the cut/shape of the suit
-Tight/close-fitting, which is great for swimming laps
-Compression throughout feels good on the muscles and means I can swim without a supportive swim top under it (C-cup)
-Fun colors/side panel
-Fabric seems good quality
-Long zipper
-Most seams are flat (see cons for the exception)
Cons
-There is no diamond-shaped or triangular gusset in this suit; the seams at the crotch meets in an X like in a pair of jeans. That might be OK if the front crotch seam, below the zipper, was flat like all the others in the suit, but for some reason it's not! This seems like a design oversight as the raised seam is sure to cause painful cameltoe if you have labia. Making sure the seam is resting asymmetrically on my body more toward my inner thigh can prevent problems, but a couple times it has shifted while I'm swimming and it's not like I can instantly fix this when I'm swimming in the deep end. I know how to sew, so when I can get to the fabric store and get some chlorine resistant thread in black, I will flatten the seam, but the customer shouldn't have to do this.
-Difficult to get the suit off when it is wet—I read that in previous reviews and thought people must be talking about an earlier design because the zipper length goes below the navel; but it's the fabric more than the zipper, that causes this issue. The compressive fabric is in the arms and shoulders as well as the body of the suit, and it sucks to your skin when it is wet. Still, a slightly longer zipper would probably help. (Now that I've worn the suit a few times, it's getting a little easier to take off, but I can't decide if that's a good thing or not because it might also mean that the fabric is also losing strength.)
-If you have larger breasts and plan to spend time out of the water in the suit, you may want to wear a separate supportive swim top under it. I have found that gravity is not an issue in the pool, but if I wear I am out of the pool for >5 minutes, my breasts shift down.
-Underarm seam sometimes rubs when I am doing forward crawl. I think if it were placed lower or that area was cut a bit looser this wouldn't be an issue.”
