“The cut and material are comfortable and flattering, but these undies are really only good for light period days because the gusset is too small. I have had leaks, especially at night when the gusset shifts to the side. At the same time, the material IS very absorbent; so absorbent, in fact, that it's uncomfortably drying to wear when there's not enough flow.
I love that the floating gusset makes them compatible with a winged pad. But then you don't need the gusset to be made of this super-absorbent material that's uncomfortable to wear during the rest of the month.
What I'd absolutely LOVE to see are two things: 1) the floating gusset become standard on all Tomboy X boyshorts/trunks, and 2) the absorbent area on these particular undies to be expanded to be more like the bikini style. Pretty please?”
“These are my first period underwear, and they are very comfortable. I like the floating gusset, but I need about 2 more inches in the front. I think it’s because I have a big butt, so it pulls the gusset further back. They fit well everywhere else, so I don’t think a bigger size would help. For me, these are fine for wearing around the house, but I wouldn’t trust wearing them in public.”
“Absolutely love the color. Floating gusset takes a moment to get used to but I suspect that's typical with any comparable product. MUCH comfier than pads. I have yet to try for absorption so I don't know how well it works. but as for general comfort and style it's pretty good!”
“Overall I like the product but there are a few things that I feel could have made a difference. Based on other reviews that I had read I ordered a large but I think a medium would have been fine since the fabric stretched rather quickly. I was disappointed in the coverage of the “leakproof line”. The coverage area could be a little better because there was leaking. They are still comfortable but I am a little worried about how tight the seam of the shorts might be if I got the medium.”
“I love Tomboyx underwear and over the last year have replaced pads with other brands of period underwear on medium and light days, so was really excited to have a pair in trunk style. However, unlike other brands I've tried, the gusset isn't long or aborbent enough that I'd be comfortable wearing it as a pad replacement other than on a very light day. If you're looking to replace pads, these might not be for you, but the gusset does make allow you to use a pad more easily, unlike most trunks! I'd be interested in a pair with just the floating gusset to use with pads OR a pair with a much longer absorbent area.”
