“Philip was referred to be my lending agent because he represented the Teacher Next Door program. In the beginning, he was responsive and provided detailed introductory information. As part of the Teacher Next Door program, I qualified for a $6k grant. He assured me that we would make that grant money help get me into my house. Then weeks before closing , I got the updated closing documents and he was charging me $6k on loan origination fees- taking my entire grant money. I had to consult another lending agent who confirmed that the loan origination fees that he was charging far exceeded the current market rate. I had to threaten to cancel the process with him and speak to his manager in order to get a reasonable rate. He is not to be trusted, and I would highly caution anyone about the Teacher Next Door program. It appears to be a scam.”
