The Laser Balance Beam by Tumbl Trak™ is a 7-inch wide floor training beam for gym or home use. Clearly marked lines and numbers provide visuals that teach gymnasts how to shift their balance of movement during different phases of various skills. Two white lines indicate where the edges of a competition beam would be. The blue line indicates the center of the balance beam, and the two red lines are a visual to let the athlete when they are close to the edge.
Provides for proper positioning of hands and feet while on the beam.
Allows gymnasts the ability to spot the beginning, middle and end of each skill.
Comes in 8-feet (Laser Balance Beam Lite) and 16-feet (Laser Balance Beam PRO) options.

Two white lines indicate where the edges of a 4 inch wide competition balance beam would be. Note that the Laser Balance Beam is 6.5 inches wide - on purpose! Our thought...if an athlete does 100 attempts confidently they have more time to think about corrections and making it right.

How is this beam different from other beams?
The way Leonard Isaacs, the innovator behind this product, explains it is like having a secret tool box for beam- just telling a gymnast to “stay on the beam” or “stay in the middle”doesn’t always do the trick. Having clearly marked lines and numbers opens up the ability to place the center of gravity over numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 depending on what they need based on certain parts of the skill as well as an athlete's tendency (such as always falling to the right side), or a lack of mobility in a body part (such as having a past injury and having limited shoulder mobility only on one side). Your feet and hands always want to be as centered as possible. The Laser Beam gives the gymnast a visual for where exactly to feel their center of gravity shift to in different parts of the skill. To demonstrate how this works, he tells gymnasts to stand straight up and down on the beam (over 3). He then says to do an arabesque. If you’re a righty you’re leaning slightly over 4, and lefty’s lean over 2, naturally. Then do a cartwheel, where you have to be leaning over the same number as your arabesque in order to stay on the beam. Same goes for a side aerial. The skill where you can demonstrate this theory best might be with the side aerial. If you try an aerial attempting to stay directly over 3, you’ll likely fall off the beam.
Overall, the Laser Beam gives the athlete the feeling they have control over their skill, hence reducing fear. It gives the coach an easy way to communicate with the athlete and exponentially changes how a coach and athlete can train on the balance beam.
What is the best way to move the Laser Beam PRO?
The Laser Beam PRO is 16ft. long and there are three wood pieces connected together by two steel brackets. Therefore, it is important that when you move the Laser Beam you turn it on its side before picking up. Picking up the unit when it's flat may cause the metal bracket to bend or the screws to become stripped.
What is the best way to store the Laser Beam PRO?
We recommend storing the Laser Beam PRO flat. Do not lean against a wall. Doing so will cause the wood to warp.
How can I clean the Laser Beam?
One of the best household products that can be used to clean suede is white vinegar. Wet a clean, dry cloth with the video and blot the area you wish to clean.
How do I order replacment parts for my Laser Beam PRO (hardware and cover)?
You can order parts for the Laser Beam PRO (16-ft model) on this Beam Replacement Parts Page. We do not currently have replacmenet parts for the Laser Beam Lite (8-ft model).
I am searching for a practice beam for my level 7 (age 10) gymnast to use at home. I am not sure which beam would be best for at home use? Skills to be practiced: roundoff back handspring, back tuck, and front walkovers. We do prefer it being very low to the ground.
Thank you for your question. I would highly recommend purchasing the Laser Beam light. As a Level 7 athlete, she's a little more advanced and the lines on the beam will really help her self correct her balance while practicing those skills at home. We agree, a nice low beam for home use is the safest option!
