Deluxe Dark Khaki Utility Kilt Ripstop
The ripstop is a lightweight, extremely durable fabric that is used in a variety of very demanding situations.
The UTKilts Deluxe utility kilt takes the standard utility kilt to another level. The bigger side cargo pockets allow you to hold more than just the basics.  Even if you manage to fill these pockets, there are two back pockets for extra storage and easy access.  The studded front apron on this utility kilt gives it very unique look that will turn heads no matter where you are.  We have kept the side buckles on this kilt to allow a little adjustment in the hip area, but also add some flair to the utility kilt.  The waist band also has an extra set of snaps that allows the waist to go up an inch in size. Still made from a highly durable poly-cotton blend material that can handle just about any situation you might find yourself in.
Features Include:

2 snap closures (one on the inside)
2 extra snap closures to allow 1 inch expansion in the waist
2 large cargo pockets on each side
2 smaller pockets on the back
Studded front apron for a unique look
Light weight Ripstop fabric
All sizes have a 23" length
2-3 day standard shipping

Other Colors Available
Several other colors are available in our deluxe utility kilt ripstop style.  You can see them here with our other ripstop utility kilts.  You can also find our poly-cotton deluxe utility kilts here.

Sizing / Measuring
It is extremely important you follow our measuring video and order the size you need based on your measurement, not pants size. All of men's pants are labeled 2-4 inches smaller than what they actually measure. Please see our measuring video below or checkout or measuring page here.
If you measure an even size like 38 or 40, then order that exact size.  If you fall in between sizes we typically recommend ordering up in size for a loose, but comfortable fit.  However, each size has an extra set of snaps to go up one inch in waist size.  If you prefer a snug fit then you can order down if measure an odd size (example: 37 can go up to a 38 for a loose, comfortable fit or down to a 36 for  snug fit)
Custom waist sizes, lengths, or colors

Need a waist size or length not listed here?  Looking for a different color? Checkout our special order listing here that will allow you to customize the kilt to your exact waist and length (only recommended if our in stock sizes won't work).  We also have many other colors listed there that we can custom order to your specific size.

Since many years my two friends and I are hiking on the E1, the longest European path, spanning over 3000 miles from the North Cape in Scandinavia to Sicily. This year’s track included the Swiss Alps and Lombardy in Italy. The track has been the heaviest one so far, in particular due to the retarded maintenance of the Italian area. At some parts of the track, a machete would have been more than welcome. Before we took off, two of us ordered the rib-stop hiking kilt provided by UT Kilts, and we had our very first kilt experience ever. Within the first days already we lacked superlatives to describe our satisfaction with the kilt, and we even wondered why anyone would ever want to wear trousers during a hike. There were virtually no disadvantages, but multiple advantages, even ones we had never thought of before. Below we describe our experience. Comfort Since we thought from the very beginning that hiking with underwear would make little sense, we decided from the first day on to wear the kilt in what we thought was the traditional way: without underwear. This might seem a little indecent, particularly to Americans, but we can assure you that it is not just far more hygienic, it is also far more comfortable, and gives the wearer more freedom during the hike. We were excited by the breathability of the fabric, which significantly added to the wearing comfort during the hot summer days in July 2019. Swimming, bathing in a river or brook, going to the toilet in the wilderness, everything is easy and comfortable, because the kilt can be taken off and attached to a branch of a tree within seconds. When we came back from swimming or bathing, a towel was not needed, because when wrapping the kilt around your waist, there are simply no sticky parts of the fabric hindering you. I myself had a towel in my luggage, but for the first time on all my hikes I haven't needed it. Quality of the fabric But there is more to say. We particularly admired the quality of the fabric (rib-stop). Even after a week in the bush the kilts looked like brand new. They were obviously very dirt resistant, high rip, abrasion resistant, and water and dirt respelling. Whenever we spilled some food or drink on them, we could simply clean them with just some water. Reactions The reactions of people we met were astonishing. We had expected some comments, and particularly some compassionate or pitying looks. In contrast, people were excited about our kilts. One young woman jumped off her bike on the boulevard at the Lake in Lugano, and said: “this is the coolest thing I have ever seen, fashion-wise.” Wherever we came, we got compliments and – obviously – many questions. Any negative points? Are the no negative points or suggestions for improvement? Well, yes, but very few. We discovered that the dye came off at our shirts a little bit, like with brand new jeans. This taught us that a new kilt should definitely be washed before wearing, like a pair of jeans. Another thing is that we didn’t use the pockets on the backside, because of our backpacks, so it would perhaps be an idea to have a version of this model without them. On the other hand: we think that the back pockets also might have another function: protecting the user's sweat coming through. The side pockets were used heavily, particularly during the hike, and particularly to get the navigation stuff in and out all the time. This brought us to the idea that maybe the area of the side pockets' closing buttons could be strengthened with a piece of leather or with bronze protection conners, or with something else. Overall conclusion For us, UT Kilts proved to be able to provide a kilt that is so well thought over in all its details, that we had a great hike without any problems with it, and that we will never leave home without it anymore.
