cables are neatly hidden away making for a convenient, easily accessible locking system.
Cons:
Brown dust on the cables is a mess. There is a warning in the instructions that it is normal and not rust. Why not just clean it at the factory?
The included padlock is cheap and lightweight. A dedicated place to store it would be nice. I wish the cable had an integrated lock built into the cable like Kuat.
The cable ends meet where the 3rd bike sits on the rack allowing the padlock to make contact with the frame. I wish one cable was slightly longer than the other to allow the lock to land between bikes.
In hindsight, I should have bought my own cable and lock and saved some money.”
“The entire rack is a dream ! I purchased the rack the lights ans the locking system. So easy to assemble the online videos were fantastic. Plus when people see the rack they are blown away by the way the bikes are racked .”
“We added the locking system to our VelociRax 5 rack, and it makes securing the bikes so easy. With high school bike races and us adding mountain biking to our overlanding trips, its great to be able to lock up the bikes quickly, when we want to make stops, and remove the lock before driving off, to avoid scratching the bikes. Only takes a minute or two for a single person to get setup, and goes a little faster with help. Only challenge so far is getting the teenagers to put the lock back in the car, rather than on the rear bumper (where we then have to get a new lock).”
“The integrated locking system is well worth the extra money. No need to carry around an additional cable and lock. My friend opted not to get this and after seeing his option for locking the bikes, I'd go this route any day! Easy to use, hides away when not in use and very convenient.”
“I installed it but it’s too short to go through the bikes. The ends won’t reach each other by a couple feet. I have the 5 bike rack. It was a waste of money.”
