Confused by all the terms and different makers model names? Please click here for our blog on identifying what grips your 1911 takes! What grip does my 1911 take?   Our DESERT BURL art was created in house by artist Kade Strange. The art is then type II anodized into the machined aluminum panels.   Anodizing is a process which changes the surface of the metal. It is not a paint.. or a hydro dip… or a sticker. The only way it can be damaged is with some form of aggressive abrasive, like sandpaper. It will last a lifetime as long as you don’t abuse it!

The burl wood appearance really dresses up my blued Gold Cup. The finish is applied to sturdy aluminum, which I ordered in a thin profile. These are not super grippy, but there is a very fine texture and resists slipping. If you want aggressive texture, say for action shooting, wet weather, cold or blood, these probably aren't the best choice. If you go thin, you will need shorter screws, and possibly bushings.

These aluminum grips look like exotic wood. The thin grips are around 25 percent thinner than standard 1911 grip panels, and of course require shorter screws. Be sure to test for mag interference. The texture is pretty smooth but not slippery. The warm color really complements a blued gun.
