“The 5/8” Dowel & Tenon cutter worked well after an initial tune-up. The tool’s manufacturer missed a sharp fragment of steel hung up on the interior of the tool where the finished dowel dwells after emerging from the cutters. The problem was immediately evident because the final 3/4” (or so) of the dowel’s length that doesn’t emerge from the cutters was smooth, but the rest of the length—the part cut first and thus scraped on the fragment—looked like something that fell out of your nose. I “hinged” the steel fragment off with pliers and lightly filed the resulting blemish. The cutter now makes smooth dowels/tenons that measure dead-on .625” in diameter when measured with calipers. Ultimately, a good tool and a good investment.”
