Dick Taylor Tanzania 72% Dark Chocolate Bar with Black Fig Reviews

4.8 Rating 8 Reviews
This bar is made from 72% cacao from Madagascar. The chocolate is of high quality but has a delightfully creamy mouth feel. The addition of dried California black mission figs give the bar a delightful flavor with notes of fruit and floral. A chocolate bar that I will likely get again.

What a combo. Perfect flavor pairing, with excellent quality chocolate. Really happy with this one. Beautiful packaging, and the bar itself is super-satisfying visually as well. The full package. Yum. Don't hesitate, this is a great buy.

The fleur de lis and scroll work design done in bas relief on all of Dick Taylor's bars is just exquisite. Of course, if that were its claim to fame I would not give it 5 stars. When I think of fig I usually think: sticky, tons of little seeds and chewy. This bar is nothing like that. The tiny fig pieces studding the bottom are somehow both crunchy and a little chewy. There's a dearth of seeds and the fruit is an incredible counterpoint to the richness of the chocolate.

I first discovered Dick Taylor's chocolate at the Southern Oregon Wine and cheese festival. A nibble was enough--new addiction! The black fig is one of their best blends--the smooth chocolate blends beautifully with the sharp, sweet earthiness of the black fig. When you break off a bit, the chocolate melts smoothly in the mouth, leaving the tidbits of fig behind to nibble on.
