“Thin and easily foldable pad that provides adequate thermal isolation from ground. It's good to have around and doesn't require much space. If you have a BW backpack this also doubles as a padding for your back. There's a compartment specifically for this item in there. In very cold temperatures this might not provide enough isolation from cold ground but I haven't really seen a good alternative. And I don't like camping in the winter so this is fine for me. When you need something extra (and don't need to turn around lot) you can also fold it in such a way that it has two or more layers all the way or in some places. These are used but don't seem to go too bad. There may be small bits of dirt or patches, but nothing to worry about. On the bright side these don't require too much space and are lightweight, cheap and versatile. A good compromise altogether and a smart choice for camping.”
