“When I first ordered these beads I was aware that Imperial Jasper existed and simply thought that these beads had been dyed in the same way that a lot of agate is dyed. Wrong! Although Imperial Jasper, found in Mexico, is a real form of Jasper, the name Imperial Jasper, along with Regalite and Sea Sediment Jasper, to sell artificial stones which are nothing to do with real Jasper. The beads that I bought as Imperial Jasper are probably some kind of plastic/polymer resin and even the edge of a steel ruler willeasily scrape pieces off, (see photos). Real Jasper has a mohs hardness of 6.5-7 and cannot even be scratched by a knife blade or piece of glass.
The only reason I am awarding two stars is because the beads arrived in good time and, despite being artificial, are very pretty.”
