Hi Anthony, and thanks for taking the time to leave us a review, as well as for your time on the phone today. Our warehouse manager has shown me how this pedestal works. The post CAN be removed from the base, and ideally this would be done after the seat has been removed from the top of the pedestal (so you are just removing the post, not the post+seat).
Obviously it has to be a tight fit for safety reasons - the post must remain plugged into the base even in rough seas to prevent the seat coming off & injuring it's occupant. Our warehouse manager had to use both hands to pull the post out of the base, but it did come out. If you try again and it still does not work, perhaps you could take a quick video or photos on your phone to send to us so we can assist further?
