Truck Cover Support Pole Reviews

This is an addendum to my previous review about 7 mths prior. I finally got around to modifying the base of these so that they are actually heavy enough not to tip over if you just look at them funny. I filled the base with #7 1/2 lead shot mixed with a potting epoxy. I measured out the volume of shot first then I mixed it with a thin pour flowable black 2 part potting epoxy, MG Chemicals 832HD-50M, about 25ml of epoxy per base. I mixed in a mixing cup then poured the coated bb's into the base and let sit overnight. Now thw base is 40x heavier and will actually function as intended. This is how these should come from California Car Cover. Only other modification is to glue some rubber sheet material or felt since the base is too slippery.

Cheaply made… lasted a week and was broken and wasn't even a heavy wind or rain … very disappointed

This product does not do its intended job. Do not waste your money. First rain and I had to use a bucket to get all the water out.

As other reviewers have noted these are just cheap injection molded plastic. The base only weighs a few ounces leaving these top heavy and they just topple over with slightest movement of the cover in the wind. So basically worthless. Conceptually, these should work fine. But the base needs to be weighted. I am going to have to modify the base. I am thinking of mixing a slurry of epoxy and lead shot and filling the cavity in the base to give it more mass and lower the center of gravity. The other issue with the base being that it is just black ABS is that it is super slippery so I will also have to modify the bottom with a rubber or foam pad or something this has a little friction so that they stay in place.

The construction is very light which makes it very tippy. Would be better with a weighted base. There's nothing else on the market so this one will do the job.

Works exactly the way it's supposed to.watch your weather, set up the support poles cover & no more pooling in your cover, that is if you own a p/u truck.

The pole falls down when it rains, there's nothing to hold the pole in place when you set it in the bed, even the wind blows the cover and the pole tilts, good idea but needs work!
