“I think the placket is a bit tricky. I couldn't follow the illustration, but looked on tube to find the tutorial. I think it would help similarly inexperienced seamstresses if you included that link in the instructions.”
“I'm making this with my 10 year old Granddaughter. She cut it out easily all by herself. Now to supervise the sewing up!
She loved the pattern and fabric.”
“The fabric in the kit is very pretty. The thread matched the ricrac and would have been ok with the skirt fabric but I preferred to have a thread that matched the background of the fabric so brought more thread.
The instructions are only fair imo and you can probably get better instructions on Youtube.
I had to look up how much elastic to cut for the waist measurement of the child I was making the skirt for as I did not know how much allowance to make. Also when making the casing I edge-stitched the top of the casing which is usual I think?
I also decided it was going to be easier to sew the ricrac to the skirt before anything else. If this had been left to the last stage, as per pattern, I think it would have been more difficult with the gathers.”
“I found the dress lovely and as an experienced but rusty dressmaker, some of the instructions could have been clearer. I found the video helpful once I had tracked it down. As someone who made many Clothkits for my daughters in the 70s and 80s, it was nice to be able to do it once more.”
“Absolutely loved making this dress. I’m a beginner but did grow up with a mother who made all our clothes so have some knowledge already. The instructions are really simple to follow too. I went for the basic lining which in my case was a black and white polka dot. Took me just a few hours to make even though I did an invisible hem by hand. I fully recommend it and will be buying it in another colour.”
“Very straightforward to make, although I think the sizing is on the small side as I made age 2 for my granddaughter who is 22 months and it is quite snug. I made the adult skirt a few years ago so it is a good match”
