Good beginner pattern. Maybe not in linen

The dress shirt pattern was straight forward and easy to to execute. I added in seam pockets. The result is a loose comfortable dress. The sizing was perhaps slightly over generous, although the style is loose fitting. I'm very pleased with the result. The pattern arrived less than 24 hours after ordering....result!!! Thanks you.

This is the second time I have bought this pattern, having loaned my first copy.....! It arrived beautifully packed, in good time and with a friendly message.

I am a novice/beginner sewer and to date have only made the TAL Cuff Dress (admittedly three times). Although this dress is advertised by Merchant and Mills as being for beginners, I found this pattern much more complex and the instructions less clear/harder to follow. I used a pale blue shirting fabric with a stripe and hacked it by adding the pockets from the cuff dress pattern. For a total cost of £28 (including pattern, fabric and thread) I have a dress that's unique to me and very comfy to wear, and took me less than a day to make including cutting out the pattern. I also learnt how to insert a sleeve, and add a bib and yoke, so new skills learnt. Overall, I am glad I bought the pattern and made the dress. I plan on making it again later in the year with a fabric more suitable for autumn/winter.
