“I have been waiting for Davinci to sell the base when it broke of my iq. It's a little smaller than the iq pearl and the old pearl will not fit on this base but the new pear fits in the iq”

“The pearl itself works well as a tamper and does help ensure an even temp on the rear of the oven, however the material chosen threaded rod used to control the dept the pearl extends is poorly chosen for the application as it is incredibly weak so it prone to snapping due regular cleaning. While the IQ2 can still work without it, it is not as effective. Additionally, there are no stops within the mechanism preventing over extension which may also cause the threaded rod to snap. As someone who has worked in product design for similarly sized moving components, metal or harder plastic as threaded rod would be preferable so long as the coefficients of thermal expansion were such that it would not cause cracking in the pearl. Additionally, if the part is being molded or cast, adding a tooth catch to give the user feedback on when you are approaching maximum safe extension on the rod before snapping would potentially mitigate the issues the threaded rod experiences with over extension. The short in long of it is, the concept for the pearl is excellent, and the pearl material itself I have no issue with, but the material selection and design for the other component parts leaves a lot to be desired. However, despite being labelled an accessory, it does contribute to the efficacy of the product and would be less frustrating with some improvements since standard use would not break an installed part.”

“The most poorly produced part on the entire device. I ordered a replacement,spent more for shipping than the pearl cost, and the threads broke while unscrewing it to replace the already broken off thread. Never had it break on the original IQ and that didn't even have threads!”
