FireWrap® SFT Reviews

4.3 Rating 10 Reviews
We love the FireWrap brand; we recently did all of our New York hooks between our truck and hazmat apparatus. We took it a step further and just wrapped our two haligan bars to finalize our main tools.

We as a station have been using the FireWrap on our tools for our truck company for years. It was time to reapply new grips to our hooks. Cannot believe the ease that came with applying the rings and wrap, easy set up, clear written and video instructions online as well, and dries super fast too! Thank you very much for what you guys do and the products you offer.

If you’re looking for a wrap that gets hard as a rock, this is not the wrap. This one gets super squishy like foam.

Hi Hunter, sounds like you should have gone with HRD. SFT is advertised as our soft rubberized grip kit. HRD is our ultra hard Fiber Tape system.

While I like the older style system from Fire Maul Tools, the new all-in-one wrap/grip kit is quick and easy to use. I bought two test kits and they went on well. I wetted one in a cup as suggested. The other I ended up wetting while on the tool's handle. Both turned out well. Though I didn't move fast enough to spread the grip around on one. So there is a little learning curve compared to the older style. They both seem to have good solid grip, even without the old grit, and seem easier to clean up. You also don't have the issue of your first few coats of epoxy soaking in to fill in gaps as it's already built into the new style. It took longer for me to read the directions and watch the install video than it did to prep and get the tool gripped. So it was back on the rig as soon as the grip stopped being tacky. No problems at all. I also built up a bit of a butt on the end of one tool before wrapping it with the system. It's not needed the way most FMT handles are built. This was a cheap employer-issued splitting maul like you'd get from a big box store.
