“I have owned 6 or 7 pairs of Gravity Defyer velcro shoes, and was very sad when it looked like they had stopped making them. So I was super excited when these got released. Unfortunately, they miss the mark of versitility that made me a repeat customer for so many years.
My biggest issue is that they don't come in solid color black - my old Cloudwalks were PERFECT for all of my activities. I work in fine dining (uniform requires solid black shoes ), I'm also a tour guide in the French Quarter of New Orleans and have plantars faciitis (I could pound concrete in the Cloudwalks for months before they started to show wear), and I like to go to raves and dance parties (the sleek look of the velcro cloudwalks made people think they were hip/streetwear rather than orthopedic shoes). The white stripe on these new shoes makes them unacceptable for my restaurant job, and the white also showed dirt and scuffs after giving just one day of tours. The style reads more athletic/sneaker so I can't really dress them up or have them disappear into an evening look. One person asked me if they were kid shoes, which embarassed me because I'm almost 40.
They are comfortable I guess. And I'm really happy to have the velco - I have problem feet and need to adjust the tightness of my shoes often, especially when giving tours, and the velcro makes that super easy. I just really miss my old Cloudwalks that were all black. Those were so well designed I bought a new pair at least once a year, my "all the time" shoes. I miss them so much :(”
