I am a master-level early childhood educator with more than 25 years of experience. I work for a state university where I work with early childhood providers on best practice for young children. I do not use coloring pages in my day-to-day work. However, in my work as an early childhood children’s minister, I do use them. I have used the Play-n-Worship curriculum for toddlers and preschool for more than a decade. I believe in play-based learning and in providing age appropriate experiences. PNW provides a wonderful way to do that in an easy to use format for volunteers. I purchased the coloring sheets because parents like something to go home with their children. It provides them with something tangible to spark conversations with their children. I was unable to see a sample of the coloring sheets prior to purchasing. I do not have a CD rom so Group made an exception and allowed me to purchase the CDs and they sent me the digital files. I accepted the terms that it was non-refundable. When I opened the first file, I cringed and thought to myself that was a bad example of the story, but the next one would be better. Again, I absolutely love PNW, but these coloring sheets are not parallel to the quality of the curriculum. They are not age appropriate and do not represent-well the content for each story board. I tossed the files and have carried on with the curriculum as I have in the past using other methods for representing learning for parents to see. I don’t always like products equally, but I don’t comment, however since you asked on this one, I decided to say. These were a waste of church money. I will advise others never to purchase the coloring sheets. I will however, always advise others to purchase PNW. I would welcome new storyboards with additional stories. They are age appropriate and give easy to read play scenarios for volunteers to implement with children. I can’t say enough how much I love Play-n-Worship.
Helpful Report
Thank you for sharing your comprehensive feedback, Clarissa. We truly appreciate your dedication to early childhood education and your advocacy for age-appropriate learning experiences. We’re glad to hear how much you value the Play-n-Worship curriculum overall, and it's clear you have a wealth of experience in the field. We’re disappointed to learn that the coloring sheets did not meet your expectations and did not align with the quality of the curriculum you’ve come to love. Your suggestions regarding story representations are invaluable, and we will certainly take them into consideration as we look to improve our offerings. Thank you again for your thoughtful input and for supporting our curriculum—all while serving young children in your ministry!
