We average close to 40 kids / week and are finding the kit format of the student workbooks to be a burden. The cost is quite high to order a student kit for each kid and we’ve also found that kids struggle with tearing out the perforated pages. I ended up going through all the books myself, tearing out the pages and sorting them for each lesson. It’s great when it’s done – I then have all our material ready for 13 weeks – but it’s a terribly tedious process. We do not do all the activities – some because they don’t work within our time and group format, some because we don’t care for them. Not using all the pages from the book, there has been quite a bit of waste. I was wondering if you would consider offering a digital format of this curriculum? It would cut down on production cost for you and would make implementation easier for a large group, while also cutting down on waste. One thing that drew me to this curriculum was that it was advertised as “high-touch, not high-tech”. Technology is fighting for these kids and to find a curriculum that was intentional in being low-tech was exciting. However, there have been a couple Mystery Missions that have been encouraging or requiring kids to use technology, which was disappointing. One that comes to mind was from Quarter 3, Lesson 4. The Mystery Mission reads “With a parent’s help, make a YouTube video with Bible verses and other comforting words for people who have just lost a loved one. Post it so those who need comfort can watch your video.” Unfortunately, I did not read this mission until they had already been sent home. I had to reach out to our parents to apologize. Not all our kids are allowed access to YouTube and even for those who are, I don’t want to encourage them to make and post videos. I would offer the suggestion to extend your low-tech approach to be no-tech in Mystery Missions.

Hi Kristi, thank you for your thoughful review. We will pass your comments on to our editors and would love to talk with you to see if a different program would be a better fit for your ministry.
We love using the BE BOLD curriculum in our 4th - 6th grade class, becasue of the differnt topics that come up each week. It gives our teachers and students an opportunity to speak freely about their feelings & perceptions about the world they're living in with a clear focus back to God's Word to see what He has to say about these questions. We have used the program for several years, and rotate through the Quarters as written. Our only regret is that the student workbook pages on not marked for the Quarter they were written for. As a small church on a tight budget, we like to keep the pages that were unused by students being absent, etc. As we sort through these pages, it's hard to ascertain which Quarter they belong with. Thanks for listening!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review of the BE BOLD Curriculum! We’re thrilled to hear that it has provided a valuable space for your students and teachers to engage in meaningful conversations about their feelings and insights while grounding them in God’s Word. We truly appreciate your feedback regarding the student workbook pages and will take your suggestion into consideration as we continually strive to improve our materials.
Be Bold engages our preteens socially/physically with an activity that breaks down peer-based cliches; it engages them spiritually by talking about life where preteens are living it and how to handle the difficult things as a Christ follower. I love the Mystery Point that gives them an assignment to do during the week to connect to the lesson. I wish more of our kids did these!

We are so happy to be partnering with you to help kids know the love of Jesus.
The Be Bold curriculum has been perfect for my class of preteens. The games and activities have been great for engaging the boys. My favorite so far was the parable of the good Samaritan, where everone had a chance to participate and act out the story.

Thank you for your positive feedback. We are delighted to hear that you are having such a great experience using our BE BOLD Curriculum. From your review, it sounds like your kids and volunteers are having a great time growing in their relationships with Jesus and each other.
I wish the Bible verses used in the student pack were listed in the leaser guide OR that the student pack was available as a pdf. It made it difficult to share the curriculum amongst volunteers.
