The idea of the flavour combination of blueberry and ghost pepper in a hot sauce sounds good and intriguing. My friends and I all found the sauce disappointing as the flavours didn’t complement each other. Bit of spice but flavour… Meh.

A bit too much sickly sweetness from the blueberry but I'd recommend to anyone who likes contrasting flavors and sensations. Extremely sweet then a respectable creeping heat.

I did not find this particularly hot or flavorful. I wonder if it was the batch, because for ghost pepper it had less kick than some jalapeño sauces and I couldn't detect much of a blueberry flavor either. Usually I don't write bad reviews, but everything else I've tried from Heatonist so far has been between good and fantastic.

Some other reviewers will disagree with me, but I would have liked to see the blueberry flavor stand out more. I'm afraid it doesn't quite hold its own against the white wine vinegar, which contributes most to the flavor of this sauce, and the spiciness of the ghost pepper. A blueberry-flavored hot sauce is a bold concept, but it is executed somewhat half-heartedly. If I were to tweak the recipe, I might just reduce the vinegar content and call it a day. But, since I can't do that at home, I think I will try mixing the sauce with some quantity of pureed blueberries and see where that gets me! Great idea, not a bad sauce, but I can't help but feel the sense of wasted potential when I can hardly taste the berries.

A good but unusual sauce. I gave 4 instead of 5 stars because I feel like they used too much white wine vinegar. It was a little on the winey side for my taste, but still wasn't bad. 28,000 shu according to Hot Ones btw

It definitely might work better as a marinade or cooking sauce as opposed to out of the bottle (as the below reviews suggest). It does add a nice heat to fairly mundane foods (sandwiches) but tends to get swamped under stronger-tasting meals.

I can definitely see this being good in a certain food, like salad or marsala, or part of a fish marinade, but out of the bottle the flavor is a bit lacking. I'm glad the blueberry isn't overpowering, and it's just the right amount of hot, but I expected a little more kick all around the tongue. You can pretty well taste the wine, but not enough vinegar in my opinion. It doesn't really reach taste buds in the back of the isle. This is coming from a guy that's been dabbing little dollops of MadDog 357 though. Four stars for its potential with other ingredients.
