“I love the hottest of the hot, and so have Carolina Reapers growing in my backyard. This was the first Pepper X sauce I've tried... Expected it to be hotter, but found it was not quite as fiery as some of my favorite Reaper sauces (which are sauces like this, not pure pepper sauces). Excellent flavor... eminently enjoyable. Very floral/fruity at first followed by some nice heat. Will purchase again... price, however, is really high compared to other similar sauces, especially considering how much of this I use each time I have it (definitely way more than "dabs"!).”

“first and last time trying this hot sauce was not a good experience, initial taste was a mix of drinking vinegar and licking a coin and slowly turned into rusty water. The heat was great though”

Hi Jessica, So sorry to hear that! The sauce is definitely not as mouth-burn hot as extract-based sauces like Da Bomb. We only do natural pepper heat, and the extract-based sauces definitely have more of a mouth burn while natural peppers can have varied styles of heat. Carolina Reaper and Pepper X are way more delayed and can hit much later. So sometimes it feels more like a full body hot sauce high, or hits you in the stomach (the Carolina Reaper is infamous for making folks keel over with stomach cramps). This sauce is about 90% Pepper X mash, and when you taste the mash straight up it is killer! When it's cooked in the sauce with the turmeric, ginger and mustard those compounds react with the capsaicin and control the heat level. So the net result is that you can feel the type of heat delivered by Pepper X, but still at a level that people can appreciate and not have a meltdown over. We want you to use a lot! How much did you use? The number one reason for people to think this is not hot is because they treat it like an extract sauce and use too little. You're meant to use about 1 tablespoon per serving, so enough to well coat a wing, plus a dab on top. Definitely not a toothpick type deal. Oh! Also, give it a healthy shake before using it.
