I was skeptical about this tool, but figured it was worth a shot before welding a nut on. It worked like a champ!! A few taps to seat it, and it worked the first time. Its so simple, but worked perfectly. I am very pleased with the tool and purchase.

My 150 Prado drain plug has (supposedly) been removed and re-fitted by a Toyota dealership four times in 60,000 Km. The plug looked like new but when I used a 10mm hex socket I could feel the male hex starting to round the hex hole of the plug so I stopped there. I was using a 1/2” drive 600 mm breaker bar. I ordered this adaptor from Kaon and this is how I got the drain plug out: I hammered the adaptor into the hex hole of the plug until it was sitting flush. I firstly tried a garage jack to lift a metrinch 24 mm ring spanner and that failed; the plug wouldn’t budge. I had contemplated buying a flogging spanner but procrastinated on that. I found that during repeated attempts with the spanner the adaptor was creeping out. I had to keep hammering it back in. It was a nice tight fit thanks to my aborting the earlier attempts with the 10 mm hex socket (a different day). I was about to give up but tried the 600 mm breaker bar with a 6-point hex 24 mm socket on the adaptor and the plug came loose. I would not have been able to remove the drain plug without this adaptor. Changed the oil and torqued the plugs to spec. Then the next task was separating the adaptor from the removed plug. Used a screwdriver then a thicker bladed chisel to separate them with hammer blows. The adaptor is strong steel; got some very slight marks from the metrinch spanner biting on the flats.. I recommend this tool.

The diff drain plug removal tool didn't work. It stripped out the drain plug. Had to chisle it out. I was using it on an older tacoma (2006). The front differential fulid had probably never been changed on it before. I'm sure that was part of the problem. Still FYI, if you have an old truck, there's a good chance that this tool is worthless.
