“It got this product with the rotary dryer and think it's a fantastic idea. I didn't want the hassle of cementing the dryer into the ground so this product was ideal. It was quite easy to screw into the grass. The main difficulty was getting it to sit straight, and unfortunately it did end up at a slight angle which was hard to tell until the dryer was inserted.”

“This ground socket is such a simple idea and so easy to install - I can't think why this is the first time I have ever seen it. Installation is simple and easy - especially if you follow Leifheit's tip of driving a metal/wooden stake vertically into the ground beforehand. This assists the screw in biting into the ground and also provides a vertical hole for the screw to follow as it goes into the ground. The lever provided to assist with screwing is very effective and I was able to screw the assembly right down to ground level without using too much effort. My soil is sandy so I guess I would have had to use more effort if I had a clay type soil. As I progressively screwed the assembly into the ground I used a spirit level across the top to ensure that it was going down vertically - the whole process taking no longer than five minutes to complete. Even in sandy soil the assembly has remained very stable. The screw assembly has some really good features some of which had not really occurred to me beforehand. The most obvious one is that it dispenses with the very real bother of digging a hole and cementing a permanent fitting into the ground. Secondly, it allows the washing line to rotate in the wind, ensuring quicker drying compared to a static rotary line. Thirdly, the washing line can be removed and stored very easily after each use which I have now taken to doing as it is so easy. Fourthly, it can be moved quickly and easily should the need arise and finally, once the line is removed and the handy lid put in place, you can run your lawn-mover straight over the top (as long as you have screwed it in deep enough to give clearance). This an excellent piece of kit - simple and very effective.”
