Celestion G12H-75 Creamback 12" 75W - 16Ω Reviews

5 Rating 3 Reviews
Really impressed with the G12H—tight, punchy, and super articulate without being harsh. It’s got that classic growl when pushed and stays clear even with fuzz or heavier drive. Paired it with an Alnico Cream in an open-back 2x12, and they complement each other nicely. The G12H keeps things grounded and snappy while the Cream adds a bit of smoothness and depth. Exactly the kind of tone I was after.

Awesome Company! I researched the speaker/s type that I required & after comparing several Companies, I deduced that Modern Musician had the best deal & as I've bought gear from them previously (& been very impressed by their prices & shipping times), I called with a few questions. Before I could get my first query out, Spiro interjected & said, "no mate, don't buy a Vintage 30... if you're after a less high-frequency response, you need a Creamback" – we chatted for another five minutes about various aspects of said Speakers & the fact that he'd done the same swap with his AC30. As soon as I hung up I ordered a 75-watt Creamback. A few days later I received the very well-packed Celestion & got to work – after about half an hour I'd replaced the standard Greenback with the Creamback which, I must say, was a bit of a concern as the 75watt magnet is somewhat larger than the original 25watter & I thought I'd made a mistake & wouldn't have enough room between the magnet & the tubes &/or back panel. With about 10mm to spare, everything went back together & I switched on the amp. Not only had I connected everything correctly but the difference in tone was immediately noticeable – it was exactly how Spiro had explained & I understand why they call these speakers Creambacks – such a difference that initially it sounded like I was playing through my old Fender Blues Jr. At the end of the day I've saved a heap of money (not deciding to sell the Vox) & the original speaker can be kept for originalities sake or sold to recoup approximately 75% of the price of the Creamback. Couldn't be happier with the support from Spiro & the Team at Modern Musician & I will be a loyal customer going forward. Side note: bought a 2nd-hand Chapman ML3 - very impressed with the pickups & neck - cheap Tele alt.
