“Aquila Red strings seem to have a love hate relationship with players. I like the feel of the Reds (especially wound low G), they are more tactile than nylgut strings and seem to have a warmer tone.
I have been using a wound low G set on my tenor for about 6 months and had no issues at all. My playing style has includes some heavy rock style riff playing using a light pick - i have not had any sting breakages since switching to Aqulia Reds. I have added Reds, a high G set, to a concert uke. After playing my ukes, my wife asked I fit a set of low g reds to her concert uke - she is loving them. They are easy to play and stay in tune well, once you have bedded them in.”
