“We named our barred rock Hermione, because she was the smartest and most inquisitive chick in the bunch. She's only one of two hens that come up to me and begs to be held and loved on. She knows to approach only after the alpha hen is done with her hugs and pets before tugging on my pants leg. She's an excellent layer of large pinkish tan eggs, even through the heat of our Texas summers and not so cold winters.”
“Our hen, Roxie, has an excellent temperament, and her laying production is perfect. She lays this beautiful light-brown eggs with the small white paint speckles, the right size too, not too small, she lays very consistently. She's got an impressive display of feathers and a hearty comb. She is top of the pecking order but she doesn't abuse power either, she is accepting to being handled, very polite during treat time. This bird is a must for anyone just starting out in the chicken world.”
“Gwen, our Barred Rock, is everyones favorite out of roughly 40 laying hens. She is an excellent egg producer. She is at the top of the pecking order but still fair to her flock mates. She's proven to be hardy here in the hot Florida climate. But best of all her personality is HILARIOUS. Gwen is either in our laps begging for treats or peaking in the windows to see when we will be back outside. Very impressed with my three past orders of chicks from MPC and their customer service.”
