Baby Chicks: Blue Easter Egger Female Reviews

4.9 Rating 77 Reviews
I have two of the EE hens that are now twelve weeks old. One gives me no problem, well except it looks like a rooster and is suppose to be a hen :) The other is always attacking my New Hamster hens, same age. She is on restriction a lot ... beautiful hen but Mean girl!

I love the egg color Mint Cheep, my blue easter egger, lays. But she goes broody a lot (twice a year or so) and stays broody for over a month each time. So she doesn't lay a lot of eggs per year. They're also not very big eggs. I'd call them a medium size. She pecks a lot at your hand and arm when you're trying to get eggs out from under her. But she's a good-looking bird, and as I said, I love the color of her eggs!

We ordered two easter eggers in March 2018 (they just started laying). Of the 15 birds we ordered these two are the best girls, always friendly, very fluffy with feathers on their feet and beautiful grey coloring. Writing this review because I was just in the yard and felt very grateful that these two sweeties are part of our flock and wanted to sing their praises.

I've always had Golden Comets, or Golden Buffs. This year I added two blue Easter eggers into my order. I saw where they lay their first eggs slower than the Golden Comets. The Golden Comets began laying at 17 weeks, and one of the Easter eggers began at 20 - 1/2 weeks. The other hasn't started yet, now at 21 weeks. These are beauties. One is a bluish dark gray, and the other is a soft bluish gray. Not as friendly as the Golden Comets, but lovely birds.

The little girls arrived safely and securely. They were hungry upon arrival and couldn't wait for me to get them out of the box!

I received 4 chicks (Australorp, Wyandotte, Easter Egger and a Barred Plymouth Rock) in the mail. I was super worried as to how they were going to do in shipment. I picked them up at the post office, got home, and was thrilled to see four fuzzy heads staring up at me. They have been nothing but a joy. They each have their own personalities (the Easter Egger is super assertive and the Wyandotte likes to keep more to herself, while the Australorp is curious and friendly, and the Plymouth Rock is downright affectionate). I have loved watching them grow, and have made an effort to spend lots of time with them. They're doing great, and my family and I enjoy them so much. Thanks for all the expert tips on the website, and for being so easy to work with!!
