I purchased 3 pullets. One is an Austra White. She is very smart and has quickly climbed the ladder to 2nd head chicken. She's lays nice, large eggs almost daily. All 3 of the pullets are much friendlier than the chickens that I raised from chicks. Pullets are the way to go for me.

It sounds like your Austra White is a real leader in the flock! We're so glad to hear that she’s thriving and laying consistently for you. It's also great to know that your pullets have been especially friendly! For many, starting with older birds can be such a wonderful option for those who want to skip the chick stage. Thank you for sharing your experience, and we hope your flock continues to bring you joy!

I have 3 Austra Whites and 9 Australorps. The Austra Whites are brighter, a bit more assertive in the flock in the earlier stages and were, by a few weeks, earlier layers. In fact, I get an egg a day from each of them almost daily. Additionally, while they are a bit smaller than the Australorp, their eggs are larger. They come running up to me when they see me or hear my voice. While they're not the most beautiful chicken you'll ever see, their beauty rises up from within. I left a less than flattering review on the Austra White when they were about 11 weeks old. I know better now.
