They scheduled for another clutch of eggs to be shipped out to me at a convenient time. MPC stayed in touch with me throughout the process. My baby chicks hatched 2 days ago and they are doing great. We are so very sorry to hear that you did not have a good experience with your hatching eggs! Our hatching eggs do have a guarantee if they arrive cracked or broken. Though we are unable to guarantee hatching results, we do cover those eggs which may have been damaged. “My first time ever hatching eggs and I wasn't terribly optimistic about my chances, but two hatched! My broody took well to them and they seem quite healthy.
My only complaint is that I wish the invoice that the eggs were packed with had given the advice about setting them correctly: instead it appeared in an email a few days later after I'd already put the eggs under the broody.”

The very darkest eggs you received were most likely from a Black Copper Maran hen who had recently began laying after a rest. All eggs will lighten ever so slightly over the season (sometimes keepers will refer to this as the "ink" depleting as time goes by :-), up until her annual molt.
