“If I could give zero stars on the hatching eggs I would.
I have ordered chicks from my pet chicken for years now, I’ve also ordered eggs elsewhere and incubated them with a rough 40% hatch rate. I’ve never complained about my hatch rate because I know the chance you take with shipped eggs.
That being said my first order arrived with broken eggs (never had that happen before, and it was the bottom layer of eggs that were cracked) figured no need to say anything I received extras and that’s what they’re for. By day 7 it was obvious there was zero development in my remaining eggs (28 eggs ordered, received 4 extras, 3 broken upon arrival) by day 14 one started leaking so threw it away sent an email with videos of the zero development to my pet chicken and was told to keep them in the incubator until at least day 25,
Surprise surprise day 25 rolls around no chicks because obviously there was zero development.
I was then told I could order a new batch at a discounted rate, me being stupid agreed and guess what?!?! The next order showed up with broken eggs all on the bottom row and now at day 14 I have 1 egg that has some blood veins and no movement and the others have zero signs of development.
Again I know ordering shipped eggs is a huge gamble but this is ridiculous. Out of 64 eggs and hundreds of dollars I have 1 eggs that is barely hanging on!
Please do better with packing shipped eggs!! In the meantime anyone reading this buy hatching eggs from somewhere else.”
We’re so sorry that your experience with both shipments of hatching eggs was so frustrating and disappointing. We know how disheartening a poor hatch can be, especially when you’re doing everything right on your end. While hatch rates can be affected by a number of variables outside our control - especially during shipping - we completely understand how upsetting and discouraging this must have been for you.
We truly appreciate your honest feedback. It helps us identify where we can do better, particularly when it comes to packing and protecting eggs for transit. Your experience has been shared with our fulfillment team, and we are actively exploring ways to improve our packing methods for even greater protection.
Most of all, we're really glad we had the chance to connect with you directly after your review and work together on a resolution that felt fair. Thank you for giving us that opportunity. We value your passion for raising chicks, and we’re committed to earning back your trust.
Thank you for your feedback—we’re so glad you enjoyed the variety in your hatching egg order! While it can feel a little disappointing not to see all eggs hatch, getting a 50% hatch rate from shipped eggs is actually considered excellent, given the stress and handling they may go through in transit! We hope your new chicks are doing well!
“All the eggs were labeled and packaged appropriately. We did have a few broken ones but still ended up with what we ordered since they added a few extra eggs to our order! Would reccommend!”
Thank you Stacy for your wonderful review of the hatching eggs you ordered. We are sorry to hear you had a few that were broken, but we are glad the extra eggs included covered the losses for you. We do refund for damaged eggs, minus any extras that may have been included, per our guarantee, which you can see here; http://www.mypetchicken.com/backyard-chickens/chicken-help/What-do-I-need-to-know-about-ordering-fertile-H69.aspx
“A beautiful rainbow of eggs arrived that was well packaged and protected, marked with the breed, and an explanation sheet of what the markings meant. Upon hatching, the chicks are already super sweet and friendly. I cannot wait to watch them grow up.”
“I'm so excited and worried- I had 6 eggs in the incubator from another company and received 7- eggs from mpc... I only have room for 12 so I have 2 smaller eggs doubled up but I'm not sure if they will rotate enough... 15 days to go and we will see!”
“This is our second order with this company. Our first order was 3 Instagram Breed Assortments plus we received a free egg and all 4 eggs hatched, we got 3 hens and a rooster. We couldn't have asked for anything better. This go around we placed an order for 3 Friendliest Breed Assortments and we received another free egg. We've only had the eggs for a week and can't wait to watch the chick's grow and hatch. We noticed one egg without development and reached out with this concern and this company replied the next day with great information. I highly recommend!”
“I order six eggs and received seven. I have hatched quail eggs but these are my first chicken eggs to hatch. A happy hatch of six out of seven healthy little ones. They are not a week old yet so I do not have anymore information except they eat, sleep and poop. Another winner for My Pet Chicken.”
