“Batteries in our previous door are still going strong after 4 months, door opens and closes reliably I actually installed one inside my run which has a roof and that works perfectly since the door is triggered by light levels - the darker run takes longer to open up so it keeps my girls in longer in the morning which helps make sure they lay their eggs IN the nest box and not under a bush, and shuts at dusk before pesky critters might try to creep in.”

“This was easy to figure out and very easy to install, the hardest part was learning to use the new jig saw to cut a whole in my coop side and even that only took me about ten minutes to figure out with the instruction manual!
It seems very straightforward and easy to operate. My hens already started going in and out of the chicken door even with the big human door open as I was going in and out so I think they'll figure this out in the morning really fast!! I'm excited to have this let them into their run space early especially on work and school mornings when I normally wouldn't get out to let them loose for an hour or two. This way they don't have to wait!”

“No matter what I did or how many times I called, there seemed to be no way to program the door to open and close at the times I specified. I followed all the instructions, reset the unit properly, and still the door would not open on time or, worse yet, would close early, leaving birds outside without food or water. Several times, the door would just open or close as I was standing there going through the reset procedure. I ended up hanging around in the barn for fifteen minutes at a time at night to make sure it closed properly so the racoons didn't get in. Yes, I could have closed it manually, but then I didn't need to have spent the money for an automatic door. My calls were taken by wonderful customer service people who tried to help, to no avail. I finally returned the unit.”

“This new automatic coop door is a great value! It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some of the others, but it gets the job done and is made of durable materials. The default is open at dawn and close at dusk (I have noticed it is quite dark and all the chickens are in). To select different times you have to set the open and close by being present at that time of the desired opening/closing. Another tip is that it does not like being torqued at all and must be flat and flush to open and close properly. I am very glad I purchased this door!”
