Snap Lock Formex Chicken Coop, Standard White (Up to 4 Chickens) Reviews

This is my 2nd purchase from myPetChicken. I purchased the large Formex Snap Lock in 2018 for my original flock...I still love it. I had to moved it this year, and it snapped apart, and back together with ease. 2021, I purchased the Formex standard to house a rescue hen who I couldn't integrate into my existing flock. We call it her "Studio Apartment", and fits her perfectly. The product was well packaged, and arrived in perfect condition. I snapped it together in no time, and was up and running. I had the hubby build a frame, as located on the Snap Lock site. Super easy to clean...I simply removed the side panel, slide out the tray, scoop & done. I use a soft brush to clean weekly. I knocked off a star, as there's not a little door awning, like on the large coop, so I do find that rain will blow into, and accumulate under the pan. On a sunny day, I'll remove the pan, and air it out. I also knocked off a 2nd star, because the carabiner's have greatly declined since my original 2018 purchase. They used to be very sturdy, and included a strap attached to the slip ring. Now it's a cheap, flimsy carabiner, with a twist lock, that I found to be useless. I replaced them. For the price paid...I'd expect quality. Overall, I'm very happy with both my coops. I love the ease of maintenance...no rot, no mites, and I know when I put my ladies to bed, they are completely safe from the small predators that we have: raccoons, opossum...and rats. Can't speak on larger prey.

My GF and I have purchased four Formex chicken coops, two small and two large. We have a lot of raccoons in our area and these houses are impenetrable by these masked bandits. The coops are easy to clean, resistant to harsh Florida humidity and our bantam chicken flocks love them. I recently used the plans provided by Formex and My Pet Chicken to build a stand which raises the coop up off the ground, I made 24" legs, this allows the birds to utilize the land under their house for play and foraging. We thought the Formex house was a little expensive at first but once you factor in ease of construction, weather resistance and overall quality it's the smart coop for Bantam chickens. Our ladies love their coop and the additional space to run from using the stand is very nice. Thank you My Pet Chicken. Mark and Mary

Bought this to be a secondary coop. Right now it’s a retirement home for my 2 senior hens and it works well for that. They started to prefer sleeping on the ground instead of roosting at night and I wanted something nice and comfortable for them. Easy to clean and secure. The nesting boxes are a bit too small for a my 7-8 lbs birds but we took those dividers out to make more floor space. These old ladies rarely lay eggs anyway. I wouldn’t put more than 2, possibly 3 hens in here. Later on this will be good as a hospital or broody coop for those occasional times we times we need one. Downsides are it’s a little pricey for what it is, nesting boxes are small, and the roof opening to the nesting boxes doesn’t stay open on its own when you’re cleaning it. But it does its intended job well and seems to be very durable.

We love the SnapLock coop. It was easy to put together. We made a stand from plans downloaded from site. Our chicks will hatch in August so when they outgrow brooder they will be introduced to new house. We have placed the coop inside a stand-up run that we built.

I Love my new Formex Snap Lock Chicken Coop! It arrived on time and was a breeze to put together. I actually bought these for my small duck flock and they absolutely love it! After showing them their new coop the first night they have put themselves to bed every day since. The nesting boxes are the perfect size and as ducks are messy it needs to be cleaned often. The durable plastic and easy access make cleaning up maintenance quick and easy. I don't have hens and therefore didn't install the nesting bar but there is plenty of room if you do and it makes no difference to the sturdiness of the coop. I would recommend it for any small flock!
