“We have never used a heater before but with significant snow and ice this year, we decided to try this one! The hens LOVE it. This heater doesn't blow out heat and it won't increase the room temperature in the coop but for the hens who sit under it, there is a soft radiant glow! We aren't worried about fires or them becoming dependent because we also got the Tempro Freeze thermostat- it only comes on when the temp goes below 32. This is a great addition to our coop!”
“I purchased this intending to use it for my "geriatric" hens who are 4 years old and always seem to molt when it gets coldest. They would have none of it, so I installed it in the coop where the youngest are housed. It took a moment for the girls to get used to something so BIG and WHITE over their heads, but after a few days it wasn't so scary anymore. Of course, daytime temps are now in the 60s and nighttime isn't below 30 so it's off, but it is nice to know that I have a quality, safe heater for those VERY cold nights. Do note that the overhead mount heater does come with chains and S hooks, but the side mount does not.”

We are so very sorry that you did not enjoy your 11x30 Sweeter Heater Coop & Brooder Heater. These heaters are purposefully made to radiate gentle heat which is found to be safer and reduce fire hazards. Although you decided to return your heater for a refund, should you consider a similar heat source in the future, please look for a guarantee such as the 3-year-warranty offered with this product. Keep in mind when positioning your heater that a thermometer in the air beneath it will not provide accurate heating information because the heat from a Sweeter Heater passes through the air without warming it. Only a solid object will absorb and be warmed by it. (If you're not sure if it's working, just watch your flock's behavior! If they're under the heater, it's working.) We are sorry to hear that it is not working as you had expected! This is an infrared radiant heater, intended to heat the animal underneath. Unless measuring heat with a radiant heat gun, a thermometer will only measure the heat that is released from the animal. It's not a space heater and will not feel hot like one. Designed to be hung or suspended from a ceiling or bracket from above, approximately 6-20 inches over the animals to be warmed.
