Sweeter Heater Coop & Brooder Heater (4 sizes) 11" x 40" / Overhead Reviews

4.7 Rating 188 Reviews
We used our 11x40 heater multiple times for multiple groups of chicks and it has never failed us. I've never (well, I anchor the thing so only a huge earthquake could knock it down) worried about fire. We did the overhead one and learned to mount one side a little higher so the chicks could choose their level of heat. My only disappointment came when I brought home a big steel tub for the first group of chicks ... I had gotten the biggest size of heater, and while it fit in the standard 2x4x2 metal tub, it didn't allow for a cooler area- my fault in poor planning. So, we just put the tub on its side and put the heater on a saw horse at the front of their new cave surrounded by a cardboard pen and everything was fine. Recently the broody hens have put it out of business, but you never know- a hen might reject chicks, those feed store chicks you had no intention of bringing home might magically appear in your shopping cart ... so it stands ready for service whenever it's needed. The only gripe is the plastic smell those first few times- so follow the directions and run it until the smell is gone before using it on your peepers.

I had two of these already. Coupled with a outlet temperature control, I never have to worry about my chickies being cold in a cold snap. They can choose to sit close or further away.

I sleep much better knowing the house won't burn down from dust accumulation in he old heat lamps. Love it.

I purchased one 11x40" heater and when I received it, a small portion of one side was not heating up. I was a bit dissapointed at first but worked closely with the manufacturer, which is a small family owned business. They could not have been nicer and promised to make it right for me. I was so impressed, I bought a second 11x40" unit from them. I think if you are looking for a safe, efficient, well thought out heater for your coop or beloved animals of any kind, this is an excellent choice. You may buy with confidence and your investment should last for years to come. I really can't stay enough nice about this heater and the wonderful folks who make it.

I was excited to get this product because it looked like it had great potential for my two day old chicks. Now that I have it I am less excited. The temperature was not evenly distributed. There were high temperature spots that went up to 200° and for the last 5 inches at the end of the heater there was no heat whatsoever. So in effect it is an 11 x 35 inch long heater not a 40 inch heater the last 5 x 11" which equals 55 in.² was not heated in the least... I mean none. When I called sweeter heater they said this was normal and to be expected. The description said it was evenly distributed heat it all the way across which I now know it is not and it has significant dead spots in this case the whole end of it for the last 5 inches is just cold plastic. I used a Kintrex infrared thermometer model IRT0421 sold on Amazon to measure the heat. This is a very accurate measurement device.

After having an actual fire, and loss of chicks from a heat lamp that was not correctly hung, I feel so much safer with the Sweeter Heater. You can't really tell it's warm, but he chicks all hang out under it. So, I do believe it's working great!

This has worked great for my newborn chicks. It keeps them warm enough without having a bright light on 24/7 and I am not worried about it starting a fire. I am extremely pleased and so glad I purchased this for my brooder.
