“Bought a silver Appleyard along with my White Muscovy about almost a year ago. They hatched the week of July 5th of 2022. I bought them mainly because we wanted to put them under our lonely broody Black Muscovy Duck who’d been sitting on her infertile eggs while our chickens had their own chicks. She knew right away that those weren’t from her eggs and was not accepting at all. But she was very nice to them growing up after we broke her broodiness, basically being a big sister. Surprisingly these two ducklings grew up quite fast comparing to our older Muscovy. Ours didn’t get her red face until 4-6 months. This one started having red in her face in less than 2, and both ducklings were already bigger than her in one month. So I was worried we had a male. But we didn’t so that’s good. I have chickens too so I didn’t wanna deal with the horror stories of male ducks mating with chickens. Anyways! Great flyer with my black Muscovy and stays inside the backyard and is quiet and loves bathing in the kiddie pool we have. Wish we had more land and a pond but not this time around. They still love it. Especially on hot summer days currently, they bathe 2-3 times a day. Usually Muscovy’s don’t need water like other ducks but I think they still would prefer it available. Thanks for the ducks and hopefully you get more variety of Muscovy colors because they’re very pretty and quiet ducks.”
