“Low quality stitching, poor quality materials and over pricing make for a difficult review to write. While it’s is no doubt a challenge to stop a roosters crow, this is not as advertised nor at the quality it should be for the price of 3 strips of Velcro. Better off going to a craft supply store and making your own.”

“Very effective at eliminating the crowing sound. However, you do have to get it very tight and under the feathers. If it is too loose the volume goes down a little bit, but not much. Once you get it tight enough the chicken can still breath, make normal sounds, but their crow is no louder than normal clucking, although the crow now sounds like a squeek similar to the laugh of the Wicked Witch of the West.”
Thank you so much for your review and for giving the No-Crow Rooster Coller a 5-star rating! We greatly appreciate your feedback and are thrilled to hear it is helping keep your roo's vocalizations at a more tolerable level. The collars do need to be snug - just be sure to have a pinky finger's width of space beween the collar and the neck for their safety. If you ever have any questions, please let us know. We are here to help!
“We live in a neighborhood and I've had hens for years now. I always got them from My Pet Chicken and never received a chick that wasn't female. On a whim, I got 4 "females" from TSC. Two of them got huge and started crowing...
I contacted multiple people, and nearby farms, and even asked at farmer's markets if anyone would take them out of respect for my neighbors.
On to my review:
-These collars do work well but they take adjusting.
-Have someone help you, one person holding and one to put it on.
-It has to be snug, not to where they're panicking but if it's loose at all it won't work
-You shouldn't be able to slide your finger under it. Tighten slightly as needed, it
took me about 3 days to get it right.
-If the tag sticks out the hens will peck at it as will the wearer, and potentially remove it.
-It has to be snug! But not to the point where they're in distress, panicking, or having trouble breathing.
I didn't have any of those issues but I started looser with mine and gradually adjusted it.
It has been over 90 degrees this past week and the boys have been breathing well, eating and drinking normally, and trying their luck with the ladies. I do not think the collars are inhumane, the roosters are going about their business and their crowing frequency and volume have decreased significantly. I included a pic of the boys with their collars on.”
Thank you so very much for taking the time to review the No Crow Collars and providing your own experiences. My Pet Chicken appreciates your insights and thoughtfulness to help other flock keepers! Please let us know if we can ever be of assistance.
“I really wanted to love this product but it’s awful. I have a rooster who was supposed to be a hen. I live in the city limits where I am permitted up to 6 hens but no rooster. This dude has a MIGHTY crow. He starts at 4am sharp. I thought this would be a humane solution, but it was awful. As soon as I put it on (with one pinky space as the instructions say) and let him down, he immediately jumped back. The instructions say this is normal, so I stayed outside and watched him for a while. What I saw was that he retreated into the bushes and lay there slumped. I loosed the collar and re-examined and I got the same result. My rooster stood there motionless with his head slumped forward. Y’all, I live in Texas where we’ve had triple digit heat for 40 some odd days. Leaving him with this collar on felt inhumane and cruel. Sufficed to say, my days will start at 4am sharp.”
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience! Your rooster could be reacting to the new and strange sensation of having something around his neck. Starting the collar loose the first day, then adjusting it a bit tighter every day, to the recommended fit, will let him to get more used to it. The mesh design allows for air flow so the collar should not get hot, although we do understand your concern for the Texas heat! We would be happy to help you with any questions!
“I have had the collar for 6 days. It worked for the first 2 days, on the third day the rooster was able to remove the collar. We have put it on every day since and the velcro is not strong enough to stay closed. It is a great idea, but the materials are not strong enough for the job.”
