“I give 5 stars because the girls arrived happy & healthy & I would absolutely order from this company again, I love my ducklings dearly. However - we ordered pekins & received jumbo pekins, which are notorious for health issues and short life spans. One of my favorite girls Maggie passed away this weekend. She fought so hard and in the end her bad genetics won, she was 2 months shy of being one year. I’m absolutely heartbroken and so are her duck sisters. Maggie the duck was the sweetest girl, would follow me and loved pets on her beak. I just wish she wasn’t a jumbo and could’ve had a chance at a long happy life.”

Jumbo Pekins are a recognized variety within the Pekin duck breed standard and aren’t generally associated with inherently shorter lifespans. Like all ducks, health and longevity can vary quite a bit depending on factors like environment, nutrition, genetics within normal variation, and individual health circumstances.
