Hatching Eggs: Standard Egg Layer Assortment, Hen Haven Location Reviews

2.8 Rating 8 Reviews
No eggs hatched. The first set of 10 eggs did not hatch. I ordered 8 and they sent 10. Due to zero hatch, they sent 8 more eggs. I followed steps carefully to ensure any hatch, but no eggs hatched. All 18 eggs were runny yolks with the exception of one that had an eye develop. My guess is they’re sending old eggs. This was a sad waste of $90+ and 2 months of time, and sadly no chicks for me. I’m disgusted and will not be ordering again.

We are terribly sorry that you had such a disappointing hatching experience with your original shipment, as well as the reshipment of eggs we sent to you. We understand the frustration of putting time and money into hatching eggs only for those chicks to not come out of their shells. We have reached out to you via separate communication to help find a solution and look forward to hearing back from you.

None of the eggs hatched. I ordered 8 eggs and received 10, thus the 2-star rating. Only one egg had some development (looked like a head), but stopped developing. All other 9 eggs were runny yolk. Very disappointed. It cost $95, which went down the drain.

We are terribly sorry that you had such disappointing hatching experience with your eggs. As outlined in our Incubation Guide on the My Pet Chicken website, we can never promise hatch results, as there are many factors that can affect hatch rate. We have reached out to you by separate communication to the email on your order and look forward to hearing back from you soon!

My total hatch from these eggs was 4 chicks out of 16 eggs! I bought 14 of these hatching eggs and received 16. Out of those 16 eggs, 9 of them were NOT even fertilized! That's more than half of the eggs I received not being fertilized! I opened them up on day 24 to check. I'm disappointed that so many of the eggs were not fertilized, which lowered my hatch rate significantly.

Unfortunately, we only had one egg hatch. Little Cheep is happy, noisy, and very curious. First time hatching with broody hens, so doing research before trying again.

Hello Larissa, Thank you for taking the time to send in a review of your experience with the hatching eggs. We are excited to hear that the baby that hatched is doing well. Hatching eggs that have been shipped can be difficult sometimes because we cannot control the handling once they leave our facility. Additionally there are a lot of environmental factors that can cause a low hatch rate. I am attaching a link to our hatch/incubation guide. I believe you will find helpful information for future hatches. https://www.mypetchicken.com/pages/incubation-guide

I couldn't be happier with my purchase of fertile eggs. Hen haven did an amazing job labeling and packing these precious eggs for transport to my little corner of the world. I love the assortment of great layers-- exactly what I wanted! My broody has already tucked them in, under her protection. The success is now up to her.

Thank you so much for the terrific review. Hatching eggs with a broody hen is a wonderful experience. We hope you (and your hen) get lots of little ones and please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

I had 5 bantams go broody, but only 2 wanna be moms at the time, so I ordered the just 3 eggs. I was anxious because they didn't get shipped until the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend so I knew the eggs would be in the mail longer than I wanted and having read some reviews saying none of the eggs hatched for other people, since I had these broodies waiting to hatch babies. I also wasn't able to call the post office to let them know I would pick the eggs up because of the holiday so I arrived home to find them on my front porch! 4 eggs arrived because they gave one extra - 2 Barred Rock, Easter Egger, and an Orpington. The broodies played egg roulette all taking turns fighting over sitting on them - one ended up getting a small crack near the end of the 21 days, but luckily it was the one that hadn't developed. Then right on day 21, the remaining 3 eggs hatched beautifully and these banty mommas were really happy! I went in having low expectations, thinking none or maybe just one would hatch and I was over the moon, that these eggs worked out so well. My Pet Chicken has always blown me away with such amazing quality!
