“This was my first time raising chickens and I feel very honored to have been able to raise her along with my other 4 girls. As a baby she hated being held but will love to come climb up next to you and sit with you and still did as she grew older. Every time someone came over she stole everyone’s hearts, Being the first to greet you entering the coop, Flying up on your shoulder and walking around with her, she was very friendly. almost made it to a year with her along with my black copper maran, I had to take the birds to a friends barn bc we were having a really bad winter storm and while over there a mink broke into the coop and got 20 of the birds which ended up including her and I’m beyond mad such a little thing took out so many of these guys, im very heartbroken about this still.”
Thank you so much for sharing your story. It sounds like she was a truly special girl with such a wonderful personality, and the bond you built with her really shines through in your words. We are so deeply sorry for your loss. Predator incidents, especially something as unexpected as a mink, can be incredibly devastating, and it is completely understandable to feel heartbroken. Losing so many at once makes it even harder.
It is clear she was very loved and had a great life with you. Thank you for giving her such a caring home and for sharing her memory with us.
“This is our sweet girl Hobbles! She is very curious and sweet at 2 weeks old! We originally got her very confused with the Bountiful Blue Egg Layer we got... They both are splashed (with the Bountiful blue being MORE splashed) so I am curious to see how they look grown up! I do not think Hobbles will have much splashing, as her wings are solid white with the lightest grey of splashing, and no black dots in her fluff, but we will see what happens! She is very sweet so far and is very mellow with the other chicks.”
Thank you for sharing your experience. Hobbles is such a sweet name, and it sounds like she already has a lovely personality. It is always fun to watch how their coloring develops over time, especially with splash varieties. Each one can turn out a little different, which makes them all the more unique. We are so glad to hear she is settling in well and getting along nicely with the rest of your chicks. Thank you again for sharing, and we hope you continue to enjoy watching her grow.
“I have 4 Splash Ameraucanas in one of my orders that are about 4 weeks old now, and their spots are starting to come in. They're very pretty and while initially smaller than the rest all 4 hit a serious growth spurt the last week and are now outpacing everyone else. Id say temperament wise theyre nice in the middle of the road! Not a spazz like my exchequer leghorn and not a total snuggle bug like my olive eggers. Very happy with them, their names are Checkers and then Rose, Dorothy and Blanche after the golden girls lol excited to see their eggs!”
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear your Blue Splash Ameraucanas are growing beautifully and developing both their unique coloring and fun personalities! We love the Golden Girls nod and we are so glad you’re happy with them and can’t wait for you to see those lovely blue eggs when they start laying.
“Sasha, the blue splash ameraucana, is gorgeous. Her coloration at 3 weeks is stunning and her eyes are so beautiful, alert and expressive. She loves to fly around the (very large) brooder and perches as high as she can wherever she can! A bit easily excitable and prone to caving into "drama", but is also sweet and surprisingly easy to handle.”
“Out of my 9 super cute chatty and curious girls, Uma my one and only Blue Splash Ameraucana is the friendliest one and always on my shoulder when I enter the coop. She is truly delightful”
