I was hoping to add some new color and variation to my silkie flock. As far as temperament. So far he’s pretty calm but confident which are good qualities for a rooster.”
Britta, we're sorry to hear that your splash silkie isn't showing much variation, but we want to let you know that sometimes splash chicks take a bit longer to show their true coloration. I have a splash hen who was very light as a "teen" and in the last 3 years after each molt she has become much darker and "splashier," so don't give up just yet! You may get some lovely coloration after he matures a bit. We're glad to hear that he is a nice boy, though. That's super important in a breeding rooster!
