“Heating plates are a real game changer and I will never use heat lamps again! I have used this brooder plate for multiple broods and the chicks all seem to do very well and know how much heat they need. You can slope the roof (by making the legs different lengths) and this helps with chicks that are different heights. The only suggestion I have is to put some type of cardboard or paper cover on the top because once they start hopping up, they will poop all over it.”
“I've been using the EcoGlow heater for about two weeks now with seven chicks. So far, so good. The chicks seem very content and comfortable; haven't noticed any chicks acting like they're cold. The only reason I didn't give five stars is that rating this heater for up to thirty-five chicks is awfully optimistic. My guess would be ten to fifteen birds, especially as they grow so quickly. Otherwise, I'm very pleased. Chooks are warm, happy, and on a proper day/night cycle, and I don't worry about the fire hazard of a heat lamp.”
“This has been really great for my chicks! I've set it up with one side higher than the other, so that they can choose how warm to be. They love the security of having something to hide under and have been warm and happy since the day they arrived. I've got 11 chicks currently and the one thing I'd say is that, as with all things chicken, you're better off getting a larger size than what the manufacturer recommends. The Ecoglow 1200 has plenty of space for my chicks with no piling or fighting for prime spots. I'm not sure the smaller model would.
I also love the safety factor with the Ecoglow, and would absolutely recommend this to anyone raising chicks.”
