“Foof is very cute and the sweetest/most friendly chicken we have had. She always wants to be snuggled. I do not recommend putting this chicken with bigger breeds because it is very defenseless and easy to bully. I honestly feel bad that humans bred animals to a state that incapacitates them-kind of like pugs. Also got frizzle and silky which are best friends and pretty normal. Frizzle can have the qualities of a bird-of-prey.”
Thanks for sharing your experience! We’re so glad to hear Foof is such a sweet, snuggly girl, and that your Frizzle and Silkie are best friends. ❤️ We appreciate your feedback about keeping Polish bantams with appropriately sized and tempered flock mates. Polish bantams are certainly distinctive birds, and providing them with a safe environment where they can thrive is especially important. Thanks for giving these special birds such a loving home!
“I ordered 5 polish and 3 d'uccles female chicks. Of those 5 polish, 2 died within 72hrs of me getting the order, and the other 2 are roosters/males. Terrible experience, I've been raising for 25 years plus, and this is the worst survival and sexing results I have ever gotten (and some of the most expensive chicks).”
We’re truly sorry. Losing chicks so soon after they arrived is heartbreaking, and we can only imagine how disappointing this experience must have been.
We also understand how upsetting it must be to discover that two of the chicks were not the sex you ordered. We sincerely apologize for the frustration and disappointment this has caused.
Our Flock Care team will be reaching out privately to gather more information and see how we can best help you.
“Ursula…. What can I say about Ursula. She keeps us entertained that is for sure. Her wild top feathers and her quirky personality is what we love most about this girl.”
Thank you for sharing about Ursula! Polish bantams have a way of stealing the show, and with that fabulous feathered hairdo it sounds like she is already the star of the flock. Between her special style and quirky antics, she may just need her own fan club. We are so glad she is keeping you entertained!
OH MY GOODNESS what a wonderful photo! What a perfect name—Cruella is made for the dramatic flair of a White Crested Black Polish! With that fabulous feather “hairdo,” we’re not surprised your granddaughter is smitten. These girls definitely know how to steal the spotlight (but thankfully, not puppies!). We hope Cruella brings tons of laughter, love, and more stylish sass to your flock!
“For being only a few days old she, Maude, is not sociable at all. I can only imagine that she will get worse no matter how much I cuddle with her which is a shame. Beautiful colors, poor temperment!”
Ah! The polish do tend to be a bit more on the "quirky" side of the personality spectrum. They can be absolute joys to be around one day and a terror the next! Sometimes this may be due to their usually being on the low end of the pecking order and may vent some of their frustration out on their poor flock keepers. In addition to cuddling Maude (I love the name!), perhaps some of these tips may help her become more sociable: My chickens run away whenever they see me. Can I tame them? Please let us know if we can answer any questions or address any concerns. We are always happy to help!
