“Its a nice jacket. I know it's probably personal preference, but I prefer the colour and style of the PERCUSSION IMPERLIGHT HUNTING JACKET instead, which is also a chunk cheaper. Side by side, they are very similar!”
“This is a great field coat, very well equipped with pockets, well made with secure stitching and what appears to be a robust double zip. The attractive material also looks to be very hard wearing - time and use will tell. All the closures are secure and the detachable hood is easily adjusted and is peaked which offers great protection. I have worn the coat through some pretty horrendous weather so far and can count on it watertightness. It is a heavier weight than I had anticipated and so would suggest that it is more a late/early season choice. It would have been useful to have had an adjustable internal waist gaiter to keep up draught to a minimum. The number of pockets, and positions are generally good. I like the inclusion of a sewn in bull lip for keys. The bellow pockets are excellent and whilst the cartridge holders are a nice useful touch, they are tight in use, and it would have be practical to have them push studded, velcro or zip fitted. This would have proved more functional for those that fish and walk dogs, as other equipment in the pockets can become snagged. The double side zipped poachers pocket is excellent and I have used it for carrying over trousers, the hood and other gear. The internal zip pocket I use for my phone, as the dedicated phone pocket is too small and is used for my spectacles. I personally, favour reverse flap handwarmer pockets behind the bellow pocket, which I have on my yacht 'oillies'! This gives protection from rain water running into the cuff, as it does on the breast handwarmer pockets on this jacket. The breast pockets are not deep or particularly big and do not quite accommodate my hands, which are large, but I would suggest the pockets would be a struggle for regular sizes but are useful. I initially ordered the size for me (Large), following the guidence. However despite the range of movement the pleated and vented under arm features afford , I found it too tight for comfort and exchanged for the next size up. Overall I personally think this, despite some design niggles, is an excellent choice against obvious rival brands and look forward to the mark 2 version! Garry”
