“I cut off the upright tube on my repair stand 3-1/2” below the clamp head, made a shim out of 16 gauge sheet metal and drilled a couple of holes to bolt the top tube/clamp head and shim to the top of blue extension tube that comes with the kit. The quick release collar that comes with the kit attaches to the upright tube of the repair stand and the blue extension tube slides into it. The minimum height of the clamp is now about 50” and the height of the clamp can be infinitely adjusted up to about 58” (leaving the recommended minimum 8” inserted into the stand base). This puts the bike at a much more comfortable height for me to work on, especially bikes that have to be clamped by the seat post rather than the bike frame.”
