“A year ago I found out that my 3 year old TW-5.2 had basically stopped working. There was no clicking and very unreliable break action. I found that it was often not breaking at all. Park Tool replied my review to say that the tool should be sent for warranty. However, when I found out that I would have to pay to ship it, I didn't bother and just decided to write off the tool. Well since it basically wasn't useful anymore, I just pulled the ratchet head off to see if I could find anything. At first it seemed like nothing was wrong, but then I dumped out the pivot block and found out that it's rectangular. It seems like the reason my wrench stopped working was that the pivot block was not in the correct orientation. I put the pivot block back in the upright position and it started working reliably. I don't know how the pivot block managed to change orientation given how little I've used the wrench in the years I've owned it. I have no idea if this thing is still in calibration anymore after opening it though.”

Thanks for the review Leon. This issue can happen when the wrench gets dialed down below 2nm. People often want to dial them to zero but that can allow the block to flip around.

“This is one of Park Tools wrenches that I’m not overly impressed with. It is a nice TW but I don’t care the adjustable settings. Prefer to have Adjustable in 0.2 Nm increments (or ability to do 1/2 increments). I have used it sling side two other brands and unfortunately this is not my first go to TW.”

“I originally purchased a torque wrench off Amazon (trying to save a few bucks). I was disappointed with how subtle indication was with the Amazon torque wrench. It was returned and I purchased the Park Tool torque wrench. I’m thoroughly pleased and impressed with Park Tool. It costs more because you get more.”
