“I bought the nimbus as it was one of the few available with right hand hinges
Build quality seems ok and looks smart installed. Time will tell on durability.
Its door is v heavy and it’s a two person job to lift into place.
Make sure cable access is sorted via void in wall or chased out if solid wall. The cabinet sits flush to the wall with no service gap.
The pir light is b sensitive and can trigger randomly in variable light conditions even when 15cm + from wall.
The top and bottom of the cabinet which I suppose are considered out of sight are not finished flush. There are exposed extrusions and screws etc the top is recessed so cleaning will be difficult and uneven if it is desired to place something on top e.g. small speaker. I will try to make an infill panel to rectify this. I did correspond with Pebble Grey about this. Photos of cabinet and top attached.”
“Nimbus 500x700mm LED Bathroom Mirror
Service from Pebble is always good but this product is a nightmare from a fitting point of view, firstly there is no cavity behind the unit for the cable to sit making it very difficult to fit on a tiled wall, I had to channel so much tile out to create a cavity for the wire to sit in, which is just loads of unnecessary dust and risk in a newly finished bathroom.
Secondly the brackets are so so awkward to do on your own (which a-lot of us bathroom fitters are) the main bracket is not removable, and there is no adjustment at all.
Thirdly the door is not removable which makes the cabinet super heavy to offer up on your own.
Other models have a flexible cable that you can un plug and quick release door hinges which work so much better, makes it about half the weight and is also far better from a reliability point of view once fitted as the cable wont stretch over time, they also have a far better bracket system thats far more user friendly and also adjustable (Grace Bluetooth LED Bathroom Mirror)
Back to the awful Nimbus cabinet-
So you have to firstly hold a heavy cabinet against a wall, secondly somehow arrange the wire to sit within the wall and thirdly align your screw holes and screw the bracket in, then hope that its level. (As we all know holes can move by tiny amounts in the drilling/plugging process hence why pretty much all wall hung products have adjustability)
Ive fitted many bathrooms over the years & consequently fitted many of these LED mirrors/ LED mirrored cabinets and have never had one so difficult to work with, and cannot get over how this design passed through to sale
Im not one for doing reviews and will normally just get on with fitting and be done, but this particular product really wound me up because its such a collaboration of mess ups which in turn makes the fitting process extremely aggravating and time consuming. Especially when you are paying a premium price for the product, I really expected better.”
“I love it. Looked at other brands but they seemed much more expensive. It’s not cheap but I wanted higher end and the modern functionality in my new bathroom.”
