This was my first Panpepato; it will not be my last. I was well familiar with it's cousin, Panforte, and whilst the two are very similar in some senses, this is an even more sophisticated affair. Additional spices such as black pepper, coriander and chilli make this Panpepato straddle the bondary between sweet and savouey in a beguiling and delicious manner. The spicing is very strong, and there is a top crust of almost raw spices, so this will suit all palates. If you like really bold flavours though, this is a sticky/sweet sensation enjoyed in moderation on it's own or cheese, wine, coffee. Delighted to have been so rewarded by taking a chance on something from which I had no real idea what to expect.

It was great to open the Panpepato to find a hand crafted fruit and nut delight. Warming spices give the Panpepato an extra appeal.
